Beartown Backyard Ultra
1st May, 2027, Astbury Mere, Congleton

Volunteer at Beartown

Beartown doesn't happen without its crew of volunteers. Wardens, timekeepers, car park, setup, teardown, the people who keep 100 runners safe and the bell ringing on the hour. Tell us how you can help and we'll be in touch.

This is a last-person-standing event. It runs hourly, through the night, and can go well beyond 24 hours. However much or little time you can give, we'll take it.

Anything useful to know?
Before you sign up

This is an endurance event, for everyone. Beartown runs hourly, through the night, and can go well beyond 24 hours. If you're on an overnight or long shift, plan for it the way the runners do, sleep, food, warmth and layers are your own responsibility. Nobody powers through a multi-day event on adrenaline.

Race directors and wardens have final say. On the day, the race directors and lead wardens run the site. Their instructions on safety, positioning and timing are final.

Power and facilities. There is no power supply at Astbury Mere. Bring your own layers, chargers and anything you need to stay comfortable through your shift.

Litter-free event

Beartown Backyard Ultra is a litter-free event. As crew, you're helping set the standard, take everything you bring away with you and help keep the site spotless.

If your plans change. We build the rota around who's coming, so if you can no longer make it, let us know as early as you can.

We'll be in touch to confirm roles and shifts closer to the day.
